Misty Veil

Misty Veil
I stand this side
of a veil of tears.
Peering through
the misty haze.
The slick glass,
water wet,
lets me see through
my emotional prison.
Upon a world of beauty,
in awe I gaze.
Longing to be
on the other side
of this pain.
Sunset colours
fill me with hope
and yet that reality,
seems beyond my grasp.
The rise and fall
of moon-tugged waves,
echoes the turbulence
within my heart.
I close my eyes
and see your face,
in death,
not the same as alive.
The ache of loss
engulfs my soul,
crushing my heart again.
I look up to the sky
imagining you now,
in your heavenly home -
healed, whole, strong.
I see you as you once were
with youthful good looks.
Vibrant with energy
and enthusiasm for life.
Even in my agony,
I have peace,
knowing that one day,
I will see you again,
on the other side.
